Correlation between clothing and home furnishing trends

Have you noticed over the past year the strong relationship between fashion and furniture?  With graphic prints showing up on frabric for upholstery or for garments, the evidence is everywhere you look.  The two are hand in hand, from ikat to animal prints.  A recent article on the phenomena states:
Quote start"We see animal patterned fabrics as a neutral," stated Greg Lawrence, vice president of creative affairs at the Calico stores. "They have a chameleon-like quality and can be as much at home in a very traditional room as well as a casual family room."Quote end and "The global chic and ethnic trend seen all over Paris was also strongly visible at Maison—ikats, batiks, paisleys and the large round Suzani motif was used on everything from draperies to furniture, pillows, screens and tableskirts. "Even the trendsetters and fashionistas at the show were sporting dresses, scarves, shirts and bags that highlighted this trend," commented Lawrence.
I suppose it is nice to know that your the outfit you are wearing will coordinate as you lounge back on the pillows of your sofa and that all is picture perfect!
